Last week, photos of an AR FDE model carbine rigged for combat with a Glock badge on the lower receiver circulated on social media. Of course, half the internet was thrilled and the other half was like, "FAKE! FAKE!"

Today, The Firearm Blog (TFB) is reporting that the photos are indeed a Glock AR carbine, and they've received confirmation of that fact directly from the Austrian gunmaker.

Glock AR rumors have been circulating for years, but the gun in the photos, identified as the GR-115F, is the real deal.
Sources who originally revealed the two images said the weapon was related to a British military requirement, which remains a mystery. TFB reports that this "relates to the UK's current plan to replace the standard British SA80/L85 bullpup rifles with a new AR-type rifle for the recently raised ranger regiments."
But why does every European government go to Glock for an AR when other companies like FN and SIG are already there?

In the spring of 2021, just about the last time everyone was freaking out about the possibility of a Glock AR, reports surfaced of patents that Glock had filed for some interesting firearm features unrelated to the Glock pistol, such as a medium-length annular gas piston. Along with some AR-esque schematics. One of the innovations included a quick-change barrel mechanism.
Design drawings show an ambiguous, non-reciprocating charging handle on top of the barrel, but as we can see from the leaked photos, this new Glock AR carbine appears to have a standard millimeter-spec charging handle behind the receiver.

If TFB is correct and this carbine is intended for a UK range rifle, next year's selection will be announced - if Glock wins, we'll learn more about this secret carbine. If they don't, it may disappear into Glock's vaults forever, or we may soon see a civilian version - only time will tell.
